First published in 1995, this remarkable book provides an intimate portrait of the Vlach shepherds with whom Salmon lived. Salmon is a travel journalist, mountaineer and linguist. Patrick Leigh Fermor admired this book and its vivid portrayal of a way of life in the remote areas of Greece.
